Who’s In Your Inner Circle?
These are the 5 people who you most associate with, consult, and resonate with in business.
According to this statement, if you hang around with people who are well off, then more than likely you are/or will be well off; or so goes the theory.
So, if that’s the case for business…
Who are you associating with spiritually?
Who is helping build your character?
Would the above statement apply here also?
With this reasoning, I would then consider myself rich in spirit because of who I hang out with~
These ladies are long on love, filled with compassion, and exhibit wisdom, because they choose to seek God first for answers. Do I believe I’m a spiritual giant? No… but I think I’m on the right path.
Three years ago on July 7, 2011, my friend, Cathy, my cousin, Rita, and I started a prayer group called the “Three Cord Sisters.” We wanted to pray for and encourage each other, and our families.
The decision was made that this would be our verse:
“Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
-Ecc. 4:12 (NIV)
We were all being bombarded with different issues in our lives…
Cathy and Rita, both have sons serving our country, and me–well, I have/had my own demons to battle.
We needed each other’s prayers because there were “those” days we (me) wanted to pull our hair out (maybe that’s what happened to mine) and my “Three Cord Sisters” have always been there to uplift, console, or lay it on the line.
We knew, and deeply believed from this verse, that as we banded our strands of lives together (three cord strands) our battles would not so easily break us. Since then, we’ve grown our strands to about 8 (like any general who would add troops to the battle, we added warriors…prayer warriors).
Jamie, Debbie, Donna, Joanne and Carla were added to our 1st infantry for those urgently needed prayers, and the rest of our family/families have been added for monthly support for ongoing prayer.
There are those shadows in the night that call for some light, and God calls us to make a difference, but many don’t try to make a difference because of fear or inadequacies.
God doesn’t usually call the extraordinary. He calls the ordinary, and uses His extraordinary power to work through them.
-Pastor Dave Lewis
Some may feel that they don’t have anything to offer… but we can all whisper our prayers to God and let him work in us. We can learn to be a friend, lend a word of encouragement, speak the truth in love, and then celebrate victories. It’s only through Him that we are victorious… Team work, with God as our captain.
This busyness of life can overwhelm, and it’s nice to know that someone’s got your back.
Our strands have become very intertwined. We love it!
At times in life, we need to be corrected. It’s at that point we let the prayers, and wisdom, from our inner circle touch us. God needs to roam the inner recesses of our hearts…and it may only come from, or through others.
Guaranteed, in life at some point, you will be wrong! Your pride will be hurt! You will feel like a mule just kicked you in the teeth, and you can’t get the fur out. You’ve cried your last tear. You’ve sang your last song.
Get over it! (Yes, for those of you who know me, that’s me that said that.)
No one else is going to worry about your pride but you! Do you want to let pride stand in the way of you doing something extraordinary? Get back up, and get moving.
Find your warriors. Seek them out diligently, and choose them wisely.
If you join with others as a group of loving individuals, then be willing to listen to their advice. You may finally have to decide to “agree to disagree,” but listen. (I will refer you back to the above sentence… choose your inner circle wisely. You want to make sure you are connected with those people who have the same insight and values as you do. Otherwise, it may not work.)
And the next time we meet, I may be asking you, “Who’s in your inner circle?”
