Lessons from Our Pastor That Can Be Applied in Life (and Business)

Lessons from our pastor that can be applied in life (and business).

It’s Sunday morning and my husband and I just watched church (online) where we learned lessons from our pastor that can be applied in life (and business).

Pastor Dave Saathoff of San Antonio City Church spoke this morning on the topic of encouragers or story changers. Encouragers are important to the lives of others and to our world. Encouragers can change our story, inspire hope, courage, and confidence.

This is the summary from Pastor Dave’s lesson:

God used encouragers to change stories and history in the Bible. He used Saul, who had persecuted Christians, and changed his story. Saul was struck blind on the road to Damascus and was asked by God why Saul persectued him. God sent Ananias to pray and uplift him and after 3 days, Saul regained his sight, and was used by God to change others’ stories and history. Saul became Paul and wrote most of the New Testament in the Bible, and was an advocate for encouraging, changing lives, and thus was a story changer.

So what is the point? No matter where you are in life, or in business, you do not have to be defined by your worst moment. Your story can change…and you can become a story changer, or encourager, for someone else.

These are the lessons from our pastor that can be applied in life (and business).

How do you become an encourager?

Pastor Dave says, “It’s as simple as A, B, C.

  • “A. Accept other’s stories…accept who they are, right where they are.”
This inspires hope for a future (my words).

  • “B. Believe in their stories…I believe in you, and your story, right where you are.”
This inspires courage to make a difference by believing in, and encouraging the lives of others (my words).

  • “C. Care about their story, and walk with them.”
This inspires confidence to help people make changes in their lives to better themselves and their circumstances (my words).

In John chapter 13, Pastor Dave dicusses how Jesus, as a leader and encourager, served others by washing his disciples feet. This shows how leaders are encouragers who serve others.

This same example can also be used in business…as a leader, it is your job to serve your customer, your protegees and any one else you encounter.
This is how leaders (encouragers) can help change the stories of those around them.

Remember, you do not have to be defined by your worst moment…

Change the course of your life, and others’, by becoming an encourager and story changer!

These are the lessons from our pastor that can be applied in life (and business).
