Learning leadership skills from the 100 Day Biz Builder’s Challenge is the way to set your course for you, and your team. Adam Chandler and Jordan Schultz, hosts of the challenge, give you a plan of action, and also encourage you to connect with others on the challenge to help develop a successful mindset.
Along with the 100 Day Biz Builder’s Challenge proven strategies, you can add you own touch to the plan to add your flavor.
What kind of flavor are we talking about?
Many leaders will often tell you to “tell it like it is.” I agree with this whole heartedly, and I would add when you “tell it like it is,” tell it with graciousness. No one wants a mistake rubbed in their face.
You know that old saying, “You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.” That’s not to say be sickeningly sweet…just correct a plan of action with graciousness.
As you’ve heard from me before, when our children were young we used to tell them, “Choose your friends wisely,” I would also add to this, “Choose your words wisely.”
This can make all the difference between building up a loyal team, or having them jump ship.
Another really cool thing that we recently heard on our 100 Day Biz Builder Challenge with Adam Chandler and Jordan Schultz came from guest speaker, Perig Vennetier. Perig told us to take a piece of paper and make out our “License to Make Mistakes.”
We all make mistakes, so why not just give ourselves a break, and show our team members at the same time, that mistakes are inevitable when learning something new.
Upon learning leadership skills from the 100 Day Biz Builer’s Challenge, Adam and/or Jordan have also cautioned us about “too much hand holding” with our team members. You want to help your team, while letting them take responsibility for their own actions.
Here are some tips to implement for your team:
- Lay out a plan, and work it
- Correct the course as needed
- Build your team with postitive, and affirming words, and actions
- Tell it like it is, and choose your words wisely
- Let you team know that you are there for them, but that you will not do the work for them
